Each answer generated by Shippy links back to its underlying sources, allowing analysts to verify the information. This transparency is crucial for maintaining data integrity, particularly in monitoring illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing, which costs billions annually and disproportionately harms developing nations that rely on fisheries.

The project gained momentum after Ai2 transitioned from Vulcan Inc. in 2021, where it was part of a broader initiative focused on environmental sustainability. With tools refined over the years, Skylight has become essential for over 300 organizations in about 70 countries, highlighting its impact on global fisheries management.

Shippy stands out as an AI tool crafted with safeguards for accountability. It is designed to respond exclusively to maritime inquiries, avoiding legal judgments or defense-related topics.
