A new era of AI infrastructure investment has been ignited with KKR's introduction of the Helix Digital Infrastructure platform, which has secured $10 billion in committed capital from prominent investors like the Kuwait Investment Authority and NVIDIA. This initiative aims to build and manage essential infrastructure to support the growing demands of artificial intelligence workloads, including hyperscale data centers, power generation assets, and advanced connectivity solutions.
Helix Digital Infrastructure is positioned to meet the urgent need for integrated infrastructure solutions as AI technology adoption accelerates worldwide. Under the leadership of former Amazon Web Services CEO Adam Selipsky and Waldemar Szlezak, KKR’s Global Head of Digital Infrastructure, the platform plans to be a key resource for hyperscalers aiming to expand their AI capabilities efficiently.
The collaboration with NVIDIA as a strategic technology partner will leverage NVIDIA’s advanced AI capabilities, while Vistra has been chosen as Helix’s preferred power provider. This partnership is expected to enhance operations and support the deployment of power and connectivity solutions critical for next-generation AI applications.
This launch comes amid unprecedented growth in AI infrastructure investment, with data center operators and cloud providers racing to secure the power and computing capacity necessary to meet the increasing demand for AI services. KKR aims for Helix to serve as a single point of coordination for hyperscalers, simplifying the process of building and scaling AI infrastructure.
KKR's infrastructure business, which manages over $100 billion in assets and has invested more than $70 billion in digital infrastructure and power-related sectors, provides a strong foundation for Helix. Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, noted the importance of this initiative, stating, “Useful AI has arrived, and demand for AI factories is extraordinary.” He added that “AI is driving the largest infrastructure buildout in modern history,” emphasizing the critical role that Helix and NVIDIA’s DSX platform will play.
As the AI sector continues to evolve, the establishment of the Helix platform marks a significant commitment from KKR and its partners to shape the future of AI infrastructure. By integrating world-class expertise and long-term capital, this initiative is poised to help AI cloud providers build the next generation of intelligence infrastructure, addressing the surging demand for AI-driven solutions across various sectors.
