The demand for open standards in AI technology is reaching a critical juncture, exemplified by Solvd's recent addition as a Silver Member of the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF). This development was announced on May 18 during the Open Source Summit in Minneapolis, reflecting a broader trend as AAIF now counts 190 members, an increase of 43 organizations in just the last quarter.
Founded in December 2025, AAIF includes major industry players such as Anthropic, AWS, Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI. Its mission is to create interoperable standards that allow AI agents to connect effectively with enterprise systems while ensuring reliable performance in production environments. The urgency for these standards is highlighted by the rapid shift of agentic AI from theory to an immediate necessity.
Central to AAIF's efforts is the Model Context Protocol (MCP), developed by Anthropic, which specifies how AI agents should interact with external tools and data sources. Additionally, OpenAI's AGENTS.md provides agents with relevant project-specific context across various code repositories. As a new member, Solvd will actively participate in working groups dedicated to implementing these standards and advancing open-source agent tooling.

Solvd’s involvement also includes participation in key AAIF events, such as the MCP Dev Summit in Amsterdam on September 17-18 and AGNTCon + MCPCon in San Jose on October 22-23. The company’s engineering leaders plan to leverage their expertise to develop stable and safe AI solutions for enterprise environments.
The implications of these standards extend beyond the tech industry, resonating with policy discussions in Washington. AAIF's growth reflects increasing interest from diverse sectors, including financial services, government, and academia. As emphasized during AAIF's inception, a lack of shared conventions could lead to fragmented development of AI agents, resulting in compatibility issues that hinder safety and progress.
The need for standardized protocols is crucial. According to Gartner, agentic AI could represent about 30% of enterprise application software revenue by 2035, which translates to an estimated market value exceeding $450 billion. Since its launch in November 2024, MCP has been downloaded over 110 million times, while AGENTS.md has been integrated into more than 60,000 open-source projects within a single year.
These figures demonstrate that the rapid adoption of agentic AI technologies depends on establishing clear, open standards. As Solvd joins AAIF, the emphasis on creating essential tools for developers highlights the necessity for transparency and stability—qualities that only a governance model grounded in openness can provide. The next few years will likely shape the future of AI agent development, making the efforts of organizations like AAIF critical to the industry's evolution.
