The company has expanded its blockchain partnerships and operates over 130 stablecoin-linked card programs in multiple countries. Visa’s collaboration with Coinbase to enhance interoperability signals its investment in both sides of the payment equation.

Mastercard has also hedged its bets by acquiring the stablecoin platform BVNK for up to $1.8 billion. This acquisition marks a strategic shift, recognizing that the future of commerce may not rest solely on traditional card transactions.
