In a significant move to bolster its AI capabilities, NAVER announced a partnership with NVIDIA to develop a series of AI factories powered by the NVIDIA DSX platform. This initiative responds to the surging global demand for AI services and will begin with a 55-megawatt deployment at NAVER’s GAK Sejong data center in South Korea. The project is expected to scale to gigawatt-level capacity, addressing an urgent need for advanced AI infrastructure.
Enhancing AI Infrastructure
The new infrastructure aims to support various applications, including sovereign AI initiatives, enterprise workloads, and government services. NAVER stated that this upgrade will bridge the gap between AI experimentation and large-scale production, allowing organizations to deploy high-performance AI solutions that comply with local data sovereignty regulations.
Jensen Huang, NVIDIA's founder and CEO, highlighted the significance of this expansion, noting that the AI factories will be essential for developers and industries across Korea. He pointed out that the DSX platform is designed to help nations build their own sovereign intelligence infrastructures, covering a wide range of applications from AI agents to physical AI systems.
Strategic Developments in AI
Haejin Lee, NAVER’s founder and chairman, emphasized that the upcoming infrastructure will not only benefit Korean industries but also serve global customers. The DSX platform is meant to facilitate the shift from AI experimentation to large-scale production environments, crucial for powering various AI models and services.
Moreover, NAVER is enhancing its GAK Sejong Data Center, a facility built for high-density accelerated computing. This upgrade will include advanced automation, sustainability features, and disaster-response capabilities to support its growing AI and cloud operations.
Utilizing NVIDIA's Technologies
As part of this strategic partnership, NAVER plans to employ NVIDIA’s comprehensive suite of AI technologies to advance several key projects. These include the next version of its HyperCLOVA X models and the development of agentic AI services. Additionally, NAVER is working on a Seoul World Model that will use proprietary urban street-view data and spatial modeling technology to significantly enhance its offerings.
This collaboration builds on previous joint efforts in sovereign AI and physical AI. NAVER is fine-tuning its HyperCLOVA X series by optimizing NVIDIA’s Nemotron 3 Ultra open model, ensuring stronger capabilities for Korean-language applications and enabling sovereign AI solutions in regions like Europe and the Middle East.
Recently, NAVER also joined the NVIDIA Nemotron Coalition, becoming the first Korean entity to contribute to open model development across various training methodologies. Plans are underway for NAVER to launch an AI Agent Platform in Korea later this year, utilizing NVIDIA NemoClaw blueprints.
The Future of AI Factories
The NVIDIA DSX platform represents a cohesive approach, combining hardware, software, and facilities into a unified AI factory architecture. This design aims to reduce token costs and accelerate deployment timelines. NAVER will leverage its extensive experience managing large-scale GPU clusters and hyperscale data centers, using NVIDIA's DSX MaxLPS software to optimize token throughput and the DSX OS for lifecycle management and automation.
"Useful AI has arrived, and demand for AI factories is extraordinary. NAVER is building AI factory infrastructure that will serve its companies, developers, and industries. With NVIDIA DSX, we can help Korea scale sovereign intelligence infrastructure for the agentic era, from AI agents to AI factories and physical AI," Huang stated.
As the AI sector evolves, the partnership between NAVER and NVIDIA represents a crucial step toward establishing a stable infrastructure that supports both local enterprises and international initiatives in the AI field.
