FlexPoint has made a move in the managed service provider (MSP) sector with the launch of AR Agents, a suite of AI-powered tools aimed at streamlining accounts receivable workflows. This development arrives as MSPs face increasing pressure from the administrative tasks tied to billing and collections, often struggling to manage overdue invoices and client communications.

Addressing a Common Pain Point

The introduction of AR Agents directly tackles the operational challenges that MSPs, especially smaller and mid-sized firms, encounter. Victor Lopez, co-founder and CEO of FlexPoint, noted that many MSP owners are stretched thin, balancing client relationships while pursuing overdue payments. The AR Agents aim to ease this burden by automating portions of the invoice-to-cash process. They can monitor client accounts, send payment reminders, and respond based on historical interactions, thus improving efficiency in collections.

Lopez mentioned that while discussions around AI in the MSP space have largely centered on enhancing service delivery and technician efficiency, back-office operations present a largely overlooked opportunity. “From our standpoint, the opportunity is bigger than service delivery. We think there is also a lot of leverage in using AI for the MSP back office,” he explained. This highlights a growing acknowledgment that administrative efficiency is as important as technical service.

Flexibility and Trust in Communication

These AI agents also manage client communications with tailored approaches based on payment history. For example, VIP clients may receive more personalized interactions compared to those who frequently delay payments. The agents can operate across various channels, including emails and voice calls, adding flexibility to how MSPs engage with their customers.

However, implementing AI in sensitive areas like collections raises trust issues. Lopez indicated that reactions among MSPs vary. Some are reluctant to use AI for client interactions, viewing the collections process as a personal engagement, while others are keen to adopt these tools to lessen their manual workload. To bridge this gap, FlexPoint offers two operational modes for the agents: co-pilot and fully autonomous. In co-pilot mode, MSPs can review and approve actions taken by the AI before they are executed, fostering gradual trust in the technology.

The Broader AI Strategy

The launch of AR Agents is only the start of FlexPoint’s broader strategy to integrate AI into various back-office functions for MSPs. While the initial focus is on accounts receivable, the company envisions a suite of AI agents capable of handling other operational tasks like payroll and invoice creation. Lopez stressed that effectively deploying these agents can not only speed up payment cycles but also enhance overall operational workflows by integrating them with existing automation solutions.

“Most MSP owners do not want to spend time on collections, invoicing, or payment follow-up. If you asked them whether they want to call clients about past-due invoices, most would say no,” he noted. This underscores the demand for tools that can manage these tasks efficiently without requiring extensive owner involvement.

FlexPoint's strategy aligns with a broader trend among software vendors catering to MSPs, as they increasingly seek to incorporate automation into daily operations. The integration of AI is expected to become essential in MSP tools, significantly streamlining workflows and improving operational efficiency.

As FlexPoint advances its plans to develop a comprehensive range of AI agents for the MSP sector, the focus will stay on enhancing back-office operations, where the potential for automation is both high and necessary. The launch of AR Agents could represent a turning point for MSPs, providing them an opportunity to reclaim valuable time and resources while enhancing their service delivery capabilities.
