A new partnership between AMD and Imperial College London is set to transform research capabilities across engineering, healthcare, and climate science in the UK. Announced on June 8, 2026, this collaboration seeks to advance AI-enabled scientific discovery and establish sovereign AI infrastructure while enhancing high-performance computing (HPC) systems in the region.
The collaboration combines AMD's expertise in accelerated computing with Imperial's strengths in science and engineering. It aims to tackle complex global challenges by supporting advanced computational research in diverse fields such as materials discovery, neuroscience, epidemiology, and climate modeling. Both parties will also work to optimize AI models and improve scientific workflows using AMD's ROCm™ open software and computing platforms.
