At the heart of this rollout is the introduction of the Dell Deskside Agentic AI, a new offering designed to enable enterprises to run AI agents locally. This initiative combines Dell workstations with Nvidia’s NemoClaw software stack and customized Dell services, simplifying the development and operation of AI solutions without relying exclusively on cloud resources.
More than 5,000 global customers are already utilizing the Dell AI Factory in partnership with Nvidia, reflecting a growing demand for efficient and cost-effective AI solutions. Dell executives pointed out a widespread frustration among enterprises: the complexities and high costs of implementing generative and agentic AI at scale. As Sam Grocott, senior vice president of product marketing at Dell, stated, “Most enterprises don’t have an AI ambition problem. They have an AI execution problem.”
The new deskside offering directly addresses these challenges, focusing on issues like data management, energy consumption, and the rising costs of cloud services as AI workloads increase. Dell’s strategy aims to create an infrastructure that functions “from the desk side to the data center, to the edge, and all the way out to the cloud.”
Agentic AI systems stand apart from traditional chatbots by autonomously executing complex workflows, which can result in substantial operational costs. Dell emphasizes the financial burden of cloud reliance, citing an example where a single developer used 1 billion tokens in just 24 hours, leading to a staggering $3,400 cloud bill.
By allowing the local execution of open-weight AI models, Dell's deskside systems ensure that sensitive data stays within organizational environments. This approach could lead to spending reductions of up to 87% compared to traditional public cloud use over two years. Such a shift not only eases budget constraints but also improves security and data sovereignty, which are essential in today’s regulatory environment.
