A strategic alliance between Hancom and LG AI Research aims to enhance the capabilities of the ChatEXAONE platform through the integration of advanced AI agents. This collaboration is set to transform the application of AI technologies within public sector initiatives, especially in automating document-related tasks.
The partnership builds on a memorandum of understanding signed in December 2024, expanding the scope to include a broader range of AI technologies and service platforms. By integrating Hancom's proprietary AI agent technology, the companies plan to develop solutions that combine Hancom's strengths with LG's infrastructure.
One innovative application planned for the ChatEXAONE platform is a document-writing agent that allows users to generate business proposals directly within the chat interface. This agent will create drafts based on user requests and provide immediate previews through a web-based Hangul document viewer, making the drafting process more efficient.
Lim Woo-hyung, co-president of LG AI Research, expressed optimism about the collaboration, emphasizing the potential for creating synergies between their K-EXAONE foundation model and Hancom's document AI technology. He stated, "We will lead government and public-sector AI transformation projects through bidirectional technology integration while contributing to securing Korea's AI sovereignty."
The alliance also aims to explore broader opportunities in the public sector, targeting government agencies and state-run enterprises from project initiation to execution. This includes cooperation in on-device AI, AI-powered document automation, and B2B AI solutions, demonstrating a commitment to advancing AI infrastructure across various sectors.
Kim Yeon-soo, CEO of Hancom, noted that the agreement marks a pivotal moment in Hancom's evolution towards becoming an "agentic OS" company. By aligning with LG AI Research, Hancom seeks to strengthen its position in the competitive AI market, particularly as they pursue global market expansion.
As AI continues to evolve, this partnership represents a significant step toward integrating AI agents into practical applications that could redefine workflows in both the public and private sectors. The emphasis on document automation not only promises efficiency but also positions both companies as leaders in the growing AI market, with ambitions to influence policy and operational frameworks in Korea's public sector.
