Miro has unveiled a series of new artificial intelligence tools designed to transform its collaborative workspace into a more integrated environment for teams. This update introduces agent-based tools named Sidekicks and Flows, along with enhanced connectors to third-party applications, including integrations with ChatGPT, Claude, and Microsoft Copilot.
As AI integration becomes more prevalent in organizations, Miro has pinpointed a significant challenge: while individual employees may effectively use AI tools, these interactions often remain isolated within private chats or separate applications. This fragmentation can obstruct team alignment and the maintenance of a cohesive record of work. By introducing these tools, Miro aims to tackle this issue and promote a more collaborative approach to AI usage.
Enhanced AI Capabilities
The new features enable Miro's canvas to be both read and written by third-party agents. This capability extends to various elements such as board creation, comments, shapes, and code blocks. Additionally, Miro has incorporated agent-friendly formats, including Mermaid diagrams, Markdown, and HTML widgets, allowing software agents to contribute directly to visual workspaces.
Miro's connectors for services like Slack, Atlassian, Granola, and GitHub are designed to facilitate the movement of information between Miro and other platforms where work occurs. This integration ensures that decisions and materials generated within Miro can flow into other tools without the need for manual recreation.
Sidekicks and Flows: Autonomy and Automation
The Sidekicks tool has evolved from a basic AI assistant into a more autonomous agent capable of interpreting user goals, breaking down tasks, and engaging users with follow-up questions. With the ability to generate board content from a single prompt, Sidekicks can create documents, diagrams, kanban boards, sticky notes, and frames. It also utilizes persistent context and memory, allowing it to track user progress and resume tasks with relevant background information. A new two-way voice chat feature has been added, enabling users to interact with the tool through spoken commands.
Flows, another component of Miro's AI offering, is set to automate repetitive tasks such as stand-ups, sprint reviews, and project kick-offs. By integrating meeting transcripts, it can create tasks in project management systems and incorporate necessary approval steps, streamlining workflow.
Prototyping Innovations
In addition to AI agents, Miro has updated its prototyping product, designed to convert ideas and design materials into testable prototypes for team discussions. New features include the ability to import context from tools like Claude Code, generate editable multi-screen flows from Figma files or screenshots, and produce multiple prototype variants simultaneously.
Miro's enhancements reflect a growing recognition that AI's full potential is realized when it supports teamwork rather than functioning in isolation. As Andrey Khusid, Miro's co-founder, noted, "AI is more powerful when it supports and augments teamwork."
