NeuralD, an emerging player in AI-based infrastructure management, is tackling the growing demand for efficient inspections in an aging global infrastructure market valued at 1,000 trillion won ($760 billion). The firm's AI ADS technology performs rapid autonomous inspections of vital infrastructure, marking a shift in how these assets are monitored and maintained.

Founded in September 2023 by Gwak Ji-ho, a veteran from Samsung Aerospace and the U.S. imaging sector, NeuralD aims to address inefficiencies in infrastructure inspections. Currently, these inspections are mostly manual, requiring inspectors to walk through sites and take photographs. This process is not only time-consuming but also prone to human error. Gwak pointed out the limitations of traditional methods, stating, "Infrastructure such as power grids, roads and communications is already aging, and the need for management is growing worldwide."

NeuralD’s flagship product, the AI ADS, automates the inspection process. The system captures and diagnoses defects in real time while mounted on a vehicle traveling at approximately 30 kph. Gwak noted that the AI ADS can complete its analysis within one second as the vehicle passes, detecting abnormalities such as cracks and discoloration with over 40 times the efficiency of manual inspections. This advancement positions NeuralD to capture a share of the autonomous inspection and diagnosis market, projected to be around 30 trillion won ($23 billion).

The company’s early entry into international markets has yielded promising results. A pilot program conducted in May 2025 with the Saudi Electricity Authority demonstrated the effectiveness of NeuralD’s technology in a harsh climate where temperatures can reach 50 degrees Celsius. Gwak commented on the advantages of their system, stating, "Our method, which allows inspections simply by a vehicle passing by, is far more efficient and safe."

Following the success in Saudi Arabia, NeuralD has established a branch in Riyadh and is negotiating to expand its services further across the region. The firm is targeting Southeast Asia and North America as key markets for growth. A collaboration with the Vietnam Electricity Authority is set for May 2026, with plans for demonstrations in Canada and Indonesia also underway. Discussions are ongoing with state officials in Nevada to facilitate further expansion into the U.S. market.

Beyond utility inspections, NeuralD is diversifying its applications. Recent demonstrations with Korea Western Power Co. have explored power plant inspections, focusing on detecting internal cracks and cable anomalies while vehicles move at speeds of 5–10 kph. The company is developing a road facility inspection solution as part of a regional innovation project supported by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups in South Korea. Gwak expressed ambitions to lead in the global infrastructure safety diagnosis market, stating, "We will grow into corporations that lead the global infrastructure safety diagnosis market."

As NeuralD continues to innovate and expand, it is well-positioned to reshape infrastructure management. The company is using AI to enhance efficiency and ensure the safety of critical infrastructure systems worldwide. Its growth trajectory, supported by strategic partnerships and a clear vision for the future, highlights the increasing importance of AI in addressing global infrastructure challenges.
